And, you find that this disease has no proven therapies,

no predictable course of progression,

no cure,

and little research. . . .

Thank you for continuing to check this and keep her in your prayers!

Today, Megan is on continuous feeds day and night through her G-tube.  With her reflux issues, a slow constant drip became necessary and is helpful.  She is 35 pounds now. Her slow weight gain and slow growth is always a concern, but she is growing.  Megan is now four and eating is still her greatest struggle.  She still can not chew and swallow solid food, nor eat enough purees to satisfy any nutritional requirements.  Megan still also struggles with her developmental delay, she is consistently about 2 years behind globally.

Her speech, however, has shown great improvement.  She can not answer questions well quite yet, but she can count to 15 and name all the colors!!

Please continue to keep Megan in your prayers for her eating struggles, that she has continued weight gain and growth, and for her development.

Megan has 3 home therapies a week as well as going to preschool 3 mornings a week.  She LOVES school and is doing really well there!  She now knows her colors, shapes, numbers, and can say the alphabet. She gets physical, speech, and occupational therapy in school as well as at home.

The main struggle is still with her feeding problems, because she can not eat solid food and relies on a g-tube for all of her nutrition.

OT updates:  Megan's OT works on feeding, fine motor skills, and her sensory processing problems.  Megan is doing well with her fine motor skills!  She loves to color and is now stacking blocks!

PT updates:  Her physical development is continuing to improve.  She is not only walking, running, but now can also jump!!  With PT, we are still working on strength, balance, and endurance.

Our current goal is for Megan to be able to go in and out of the tub, on and off the bed, get into a chair herself, and up and down steps unassisted.

SLP Updates:  Speech is once a week.  Megan is now saying lots of words and expressing her desires better.  With her therapist, we are working on her speech problems, social interaction delay, and sensory processing issues.  One big struggle is getting her to use words instead of crying to get our help.

Megan's great achievement!!!

At 27 1/2 months old, November 17th 2005, Megan started walking!!  She is doing great and we believe it is due to her feeding tube giving her the proper nutrition she needs.
